MIN Milicic Darko? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1353512631465NBA via Minnesota Timberwolves(WALTHAM) — Darko Milicic has had a roller coaster NBA career, but it could be coming to an end. Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said that it’s likely that Milicic will leave the team for the rest of season to take care of his ill mother in Serbia.

“Most likely, yeah,” Rivers said when asked if Milicic was leaving the team.

The 27-year-old Milicic played just one game for the Celtics this season, he registered one rebound and no points in just five minutes of play. Even though the team was aware of Milicic’s family issues, Rivers didn’t think it’d result in him leaving the team.

“No, no. We’re hoping not,” Rivers said. “But his mom gets sick, he’s not playing, the whole sickness, it happens. I didn’t fight it much. I told him he’s got to do what he thinks is right, and I’m going to support him one way or the other. But it’s been going on for a little bit now.”

He was the second overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He was picked ahead of Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and Carmelo Anthony, but averaged just six points per game during his career.
