(METAIRIE, La.) — New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles had surgery to repair his broken hand and will miss Monday’s game versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
Sproles, who last season set the NFL record with 2,696 all-purpose yards, currently has 39 receptions for 323 yards and four touchdowns. He has also carried the ball 26 times for 117 yards.
Saints interim head coach Joe Vitt doesn’t have a timetable for Sproles return.
“I really don’t know that,” Vitt said. “We’ll evaluate him again next week.”
The injury doesn’t really effect who will get the carries for the Saints. Running backs Pierre Thomas and Mike Ingram were getting most of the carries before the injury and should continue to get them.
