Davey Johnson, Bob Melvin Named Managers of the Year

Patrick McDermott/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Nationals skipper Davey Johnson was named the National League Manager of the Year on Tuesday, after leading Washington to the best record in baseball.
The 69-year-old Johnson guided the Nats to the NL East title with a 98-64 record. They were bounced from the first round of the playoffs in five games by the St. Louis Cardinals.
Over in Junior Circuit, Bob Melvin of the Oakland A’s won the American League Manager of the Year, narrowly beating out Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter.
