Roberts, who is currently on medical leave from GMA following a bone marrow transplant to treat MDS, a blood disorder, appears on the list alongside other influential names in media, business, politics and other fields. The magazine sites all the attention she has brought to bone marrow donation during her fight against MDS, or as Roberts says, “making her mess her message.”

President Obama appears on the list, which isn’t in any particular order, along with NBA player Lebron James and professor Cornel West. Rapper/singer Nicki Minaj, author Toni Morrison, Rev. T.D. Jakes, entertainers Beyonce and her husband Jay Z., writer and educator Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and NBC drama programming executive Pearlena Igbokwe are also named.

Also on the list is Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black teen whose fatal shooting by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman earlier this year sparked outrage and protests around the country.

On Friday night, the magazine celebrated the listmakers with a invitation only gala presented by Nationwide at the historic Frederick P. Rose Hall at the Lincoln Theater. The View‘s Sherri Shepherd and Extra‘s AJ Calloway hosted the evening, which was supported by celebrities including Al Sharpton, Gayle King, Gabourey Sidibe, George Lucas, Amber Riley, Nene Leakes, Phaedra Parks and Vivica A. Fox.

The intimate awards presentation and gala also featured special performances from the cast of Broadway’s hit musical Fela!, The Black Monks of Mississippi, the Abyssinian Baptist Church Choir, classical violinist Brendon Elliott and The Roots.

NeNe Leakes, who stars in The Real Housewives of Atlanta, appears on the cover of the issue.
