Georgetown Upends No.11 UCLA

Getty S 112012 Georgetown?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1353396429803Elsa/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Tuesday marked the debut of much-hyped freshman Shabazz Muhammad for No. 11 UCLA. Georgetown made the sure the excitement didn’t last long.

Otto Porter Jr. had 18 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five blocks to lead Georgetown to a 78-70 win over the Bruins in the semifinals of the Progressive Legends Classic.

Muhammad, who was under investigation for eligibility issues by the NCAA, was cleared on Friday and scored 15 points on 5 of 10 shooting for UCLA (3-1). 

“It was really exciting to get down to the court for the first time,” Muhammad said. 

Porter, a sophomore for the Hoyas (3-0), also had three steals to pace a Georgetown attack that shot 54 percent from the floor and hit seven three-pointers. “Otto’s first full game and look at the stat sheet. That was a full game,” Georgetown coach John Thompson III said.

Georgetown will play No. 1 Indiana Tuesday night in the championship game.
