(NEW YORK) — Everyone loves a real-life scandal, and that’s part of the reason why ABC’s Nashville is such a hit. Actress Hayden Panettiere, who plays teen star Juliette Barnes in the drama, said that the show is based on real people and real situations in the music industry.
“One of the things about this show that’s so awesome is how real is it,” the 23-year-old actress said on Wednesday’s Live! with Kelly and Michael. “It truly is a behind-the-scenes of the music industry of what goes on.”
So just who is the real-life inspiration for Panettiere’s character? If there is one, she’s not saying. “As artists we are a combination of our idols and the people that we watched growing up,” she told co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan.
Still, the actress is committed to becoming a Nashville music star, so much that she’s currently living in Music City. “I wanted to feel like I was part of that culture because it is a culture and it’s an amazing industry with amazing people,” Hayden said. “It’s the most talent-filled city.”
ABC’s Nashville airs Wednesday nights at 10 PM ET/PT.
