Gordon does not need surgery to heal his knee, but he did tell Yahoo! Sports that he will be out of action for about six weeks.

Instead of surgery, Gordon will rely on rehab and strength conditioning in an attempt to suit up for the team.

Gordon’s NBA career has been sidelined by knee issues on multiple occasions. In his first season with the Hornets last year, he played in just nine games due to knee issues. Despite his lack of production, the Hornets still gave him a four-year, $58 million dollar contract.

“It has been very frustrating not to be able to pay,” Gordon said. “I only played nine games last year and I haven’t played any games this year. I didn’t play in any preseason games. It has been very frustrating watching the guys play and not being part of it. I know from a fans perspective that it is very frustrating for them, but as a player it is most frustrating for me and this organization.”

Gordon has missed at least 20 games in each of his previous four seasons in the NBA.
