The petition, which can be found on whitehouse.gov, alleges that the federal government is violating the “natural/God-given rights” of Idaho’s citizens.
As of Wednesday at noon, more than 4,200 people had signed the Idaho petition. Some participants say they’re simply exercising their rights to peaceably protest.
Opponents contend that it’s an overreaction to the election results and polarizes the country’s political climate.
