Kennedy, won election to Congress Tuesday, marking the return of the Kennedy clan to the federal government for the first time since Patrick Kennedy resigned from the House in 2010.

ABC News is projecting that the 32-year-old prosecutor from Brookline, Mass., will defeat Republican opponent Sean Bielat in the 4th District race Tuesday night. Kennedy will fill the seat vacated by Rep. Barney Frank, who retires this year. The seat will remain Democratic.

Kennedy, the grandson of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the son of six-term Congressman Joe Kennedy II, is a Harvard Law graduate, a former member of the Peace Corps, and a prosecutor who most recently worked as an assistant district attorney for Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

Bielat had criticized Kennedy for running solely on his family name and not his experience.
