(NEW YORK) — Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points and the New York Knicks made 11 three-pointers in a 100-84 rout of the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.
New York (2-0), who made 19 threes in their season debut against the Miami Heat, had another strong performance from behind the arc. J.R. Smith made four of five from deep, and six players had at least one made three-pointer.
Anthony made 10 of his 18 shots with five rebounds to pace the offense. “I think at the end of the day, we know what type of guys we have on this team, we know what’s at stake and we want to win,” Anthony said. “That’s the only thing that’s on our minds.”
The 76ers (1-1) could not ride the momentum of their first win against the Denver Nuggets, and had 18 turnovers. Jrue Holliday scored 27 points and had seven assists.
The two teams play the back end of the home-and-home Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
