Nets Guard Deron Williams has Bone Spurs
Published at(NEW YORK) — An MRI revealed Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams has bone spurs in his left ankle which will probably result in him having offseason surgery, according to Nets general manager Billy King.
Williams has missed two practices because of the ailment and needed a cortisone shot to eaze the pain, but he is believes he should be fine for the regular season.
“I think probably the majority of athletes have bone spurs that they deal with at some point in their career,” Williams said.” “I don’t know if I’ll have to have surgery. I’m just saying that might be something that happens after the season. But as far as right now, my ankle feels like new since I got the shots, so hopefully I won’t have to have any surgery at all.”
The 28-year-old Williams, who is in his second season with the Nets, averaged 21 points, 8.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds a game last season.
