Gardner accounted for six touchdowns as the No. 21 Michigan Wolverines handled the Iowa Hawkeyes, 42-17 on Saturday.

Gardner, who was starting for injured starting quarterback Denard Robinson, ran and threw three touchdowns each in the rout. He completed 18 of 23 passes for 314 yards and one interception.

Robinson did play for the first time in over two games for Michigan, but started at running back and did not throw the ball when he took snaps at quarterback. He did run for 98 yards as part of a 199 yard rushing output for the Wolverines on the afternoon.

The Hawkeyes (4-7) have lost five straight and were eliminated from postseason play. Their defense gave up 513 total yards to Michigan.

A field goal pulled Iowa to within 14-10 more than midway through the second quarter, but Michigan would respond with 28 unanswered points to put the game away.
