The No. 4 Buckeyes shut down Michigan 26-21 to complete a 12-0 undefeated season after finishing 6-7 in 2011.

Even though Ohio State does not get to play in a bowl game this year, an undefeated season has to feel good for first-year head coach Urban Meyer.

“It’ll go down as one of the great teams in Ohio State history,” he said after the game.

The Buckeyes are also ineligible for a BCS national title but they have a chance at finishing No. 1 in the final Associated Press Top 25 if other contenders lose.

Carlos Hyde led the way with 146 rushing yards and a touchdown, quarterback Braxton Miller threw for another score and kicker Drew Basil kicked four field goals in the win.

The defense came up big in the second half, forcing three Michigan Turnovers.

Denard Robinson rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown in the loss for Michgan (8-4).

The Buckeyes clinched the Big Ten’s Leaders Division, but since they aren’t allowed to play in the conference title game, Nebraska will play Wisconsin for the championship.
