(ABERDEEN) – Gov. Butch Otter was in Aberdeen Tuesday as part of his “Capital for a Day” program.
Local News 8 reports Otter touched on a major concern for Aberdeen residents: the projected closure of the town’s Simplot plant in 2014. Otter said he’s working with the departments of Commerce and Labor to find new employment for the nearly 300 plant employees.
Otter, who formerly worked as a Simplot executive, said another plant in Nampa would close as well when the company opens its new, state-of-the-art facility in Caldwell.
