Price & Dickey Win Cy Young Awards
Published at(NEW YORK) — David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays narrowly beat out Detroit’s Justin Verlander on Wednesday to win his first American League Cy Young award.
The 27-year-old Price went 20-5 this season with a 2.56 ERA. He struck out 205 batters in 211 innings of work.
Over on the Senior Circuit, New York Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey took home the National League Cy Young award, edging Los Angeles’ Clayton Kershaw and Washington’s Gio Gonzalez.
The 38-year-old Dickey finished the 2012 campaign 20-6 with a 2.73 ERA. He fanned 230 batters in 233 2-3 innings of work.
