Radioactive Waste Takes Longer to Clean Up

IDAHO FALLS – It may take longer than expected to complete the cleanup of high-level radioactive waste at the Idaho International Laboratory.

The Associated Press reports the U.S. Department of Energy is asking for more time after missing a September deadline.

The INL is currently storing the radioactive waste in tanks but plans to convert it into solids and remove it from the area.
