NY Stoudemire Amare? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1354205577059NBA via New York Knicks(NEW YORK) — The New York Knicks have been one of the best teams early on in the NBA season despite not having power forward Amar’e Stoudemire in the lineup. According to ESPNNewyork.com, Stoudemire would accept a role off the bench when he returns from injury.

Stoudemire suffered a left knee injury during the preseason and hasn’t played yet this season for the team as he recovers from arthroscopic surgery. He isn’t expected back for at least another two weeks.

The team is off to a 10-4 start and are tied for first in the Atlantic Division. In the past, Stoudemire has struggled to mesh with forward Carmelo Anthony since the two joined forces during the 2010-2011 season. The two have produced good numbers individually, but not many wins together.

“All he cares about right now is helping the team and winning,” said a source close to Stoudemire. “He’d be fine with coming off the bench if that’s what they want.”

Stoudemire, who averaged 17.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game last season, is in the third year of a five-year contract with the Knicks worth $100 million.
