Sixers Escape Mavericks

The 76ers overcame 17 points from their former star and beat the Dallas Mavericks, 100-98 on Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

Brand, who was cut from Philadelphia (9-6) over the summer with their amensty provision, couldn’t do enough to bring Dallas to victory against the Sixer’s running attack. “I was a part of it last year. We used to do it time and time again,” Brand said. “It was just hustle plays and being in the right spot at the right time.”

The 76ers got 22 points and four rebounds from Evan Turner, and escaped with the win when Jae Crowder’s desparation three-point attempt at the buzzer for Dallas (7-8) was off the mark. 

Jrue Holliday had 18 points and seven assists for Philadelphia, and is turning in a quality season according to many teammates. “Jrue has been big for us. He’s been huge,” Sixers guard Nick Young said. “He’s shown growth each and every year.”
