Jason Campbell stepped in for Cutler in the second half but was unable to lead the team to victory over the Houston Texans.

McCown made three appearances for Chicago late in the 2011 season, making two starts and completed 63.6 percent of his passes with a 1-1 record.

McCown was cut by the Bears during preseason, even after completing 20 of 29 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s final preseason game against the Browns.

The Bears have not announced if Cutler will be ready to go against the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 19.
