First came the dual announcement that Disney bought the franchise from retiring creator George Lucas’ Lucasfilm — and that a new trilogy was in the works.  Next came reports that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were into the idea of reprising their respective roles as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa.

Now, Deadline.com is reporting that Michael Arndt, who won an Oscar for the screenplay to Toy Story 3, wrote the “extensive treatment” detailing the next three movies that Disney CEO Bob Iger was referring to in the Lucasfilm announcement.

The industry website says that not only did Arndt deliver what will be the roadmap to the new films, but that he will also work on the new trilogy’s first installment, Star Wars: Episode VII.

Arndt, who also took home Oscar gold for his script to Little Miss Sunshine, is busy writing Disney/Pixar’s as-yet-untitled next project.  Arndt also penned the screenplay to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
