Trout, Harper Win Rookies Of The Year

SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1352766124197Jason Wise/MLB Photos via Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout was unanimously named the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year on Monday, while Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper took home that honor for the National League.

The 21-year-old Trout batted .326 with 30 home runs and 83 RBIs. He also scored 129 runs and had 49 stolen bases in 139 games.

Trout is the eighth player in history to win the award unanimously and the first since Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria won it in 2008.

For his part, Bryce Harper finished the 2012 campaign with a .270 average along with 22 homers and 59 RBIs. He also scored 98 runs in 139 games.
