Violent Crime Down in Idaho, Murders Up
Published at | Updated at(POCATELLO) – Violent crimes are down nationwide, but in Idaho, the murder rate went up nearly 63 percent from 2010 to 2011.
Local News 8 reports there were three homicides in Pocatello in 2011, and another five in Bonneville County. Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielson says he hopes the numbers are an anomaly, not a new trend.
Still, violent crimes dropped nine percent in the Gem State over the same period – the lowest level measured in over 30 years.
