In his first season with the Yankees, Kuroda went 16-11 with a 3.32 ERA in 33 starts. He was arguably their most reliable and consistent pitcher for the 2012 season. He also had a 2.81 ERA in two postseason starts for the team as well.

“I am very happy and excited to re-sign with the Yankees,” said Kuroda in a statement. “I am very grateful for all the interest and all of the offers that i received from the various teams that courted me. It was a tough decision for me to make, but at the end of the day, I wanted to try to win a championship with the teammates that I went to battle with last season.”

Kuroda was weighing offers from the Dodgers, whom he spent his first four Major League seasons with, as well as overseas offers in Japan.

He is expected to be the team’s number two starter behind C.C. Sabathia.
