Adam Greenberg Signs Minor League Deal with the Orioles
Published at(NEW YORK) — Adam Greenberg will get another chance to live his dream. He has signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles.
Greenberg made headlines back in 2005 when he was hit in the head by a pitch during his first Major League at-bat. He suffered a concussion that caused vision problems, vertigo and debilitating headaches. He needed two years to fully recover.
He wouldn’t appear in a Major League game again until this past season with the Miami Marlins. He signed a one-day contract with the the team and was given another at-bat. He wound up striking out on three pitches when he faced eventual NL Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey.
“I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity,” Greenberg said Thursday afternoon.
The 31-year-old Greenberg will be given a chance to compete for a shot with the Orioles opening day roster, but it is not guaranteed.
