LOUIS) — Adrian Peterson is only 294 yards away from the NFL’s all-time single-season rushing record after his 212 yards on the ground against the Rams on Sunday.  Peterson rushed for an 82-yard touchdown in the Vikings (8-6) 36-22 rout of St. Louis (6-7-1) and admitted he has an eye out on Eric Dickerson’s 1984 record.

“Yeah, it’s been in my sights,” Peterson said of Dickerson’s 2,105 single-season rushing record. “I’m not focusing on it. It’s in the back of my head that, hey I definitely want to accomplish that.

“I look at today’s game and I could have had 300.”

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier spoke about his running back, who was coming back from a torn ACL in the offseason.

“He continues to amaze you with some of his runs,” Frazier said. “It looks like there was nothing there and the next thing you know he’s out the door.”

Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder was 17-24 for 131 yards in the victory, but did not throw a touchdown pass.  The Vikings defense scored 10 of their 23 points on turnovers by Rams quarterback Sam Bradford in the second quarter.
