(NEW YORK) — It looks like a film adaptation of the highly addictive Angry Birds mobile game is set to fly in 2016.
Rovio Entertainment, which produces the game for smartphones and tablet devices, announced Tuesday that the untitled film will hit theaters summer 2016, and it will be in 3D.
The entertainment company also announced that Despicable Me‘s John Cohen will produce the film with Iron Man‘s David Maisel coming in as executive producer.
“I’m so excited and honored to be working on this film with Mikael [Hed, CEO of Rovio], David, and Rovio’s incredibly talented game developers and artists,” Cohen said in a release. “I’ve personally spent countless hours playing the Angry Birds games over the last few years, which I can now happily justify as research for the movie.”
