Calvin Johnson Breaks Single-Season Receiving Yards Record
Published at(DETROIT) — Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson made history Saturday night.
Johnson caught a 26-yard pass from Matthew Stafford in the fourth quarter of the Lions game versus the Atlanta Falcons, breaking Jerry Rice’s single-season all-time receiving yards record of 1,848 yards, that Rice set in 1995.
“It’s a huge accomplishment to take one of those records form the great Jerry,” Johnson said. “All the work we put in this year…I guess I can say it’s well deserved.”
Johnson had 11 catches for 225 yards in the game. It was the fourth straight game Johnson had 10 or more catches and his eighth straight game with over 100 yards receiving, both NFL records.
For the season Johnson has 117 catches for 1,892 yards and five touchdowns.
