(PHOENIX) — Free agent third baseman Eric Chavez finalized a one-year contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Last season with the New York Yankees, the 35-year-old Chavez batted .281 with 16 home runs 37 RBIs in 278 at-bats.
Chavez spent the first 13 years of his major league career with the Oakland Athletics in which he won six Gold Gloves, tying him with Robin Ventura and Buddy Bell for fourth most by a third baseman.
