(JACKSON, Wyo.) – Federal investigators have seized a dinosaur skull in Jackson that is valued at over $250,000.
U.S. Customs officials said the skull came from a close relative of the Tyrannosaurus Rex known as the Tarbosaurus, which lived about 70 million years ago. The skull is related to an investigation into a Mongolian fossil smuggling operation.
Authorities recently arrested a Florida man for illegally importing a nearly complete Tarbosaurus skeleton. The names of those involved have not been released.
