NFL via Getty Images(PHILADELPHIA) — Slowly but surely, the Philadelphia Eagles are cleaning house. The latest move came this morning when the team announced they have fire defensive line coach Jim Washburn.

Washburn was in his second season with the Ealges and found great success in his first season running the wide-nine technique. The Eagles tied for the league-lead last season with 50 sacks. This year, the team only has 20 through 12 games.

“Jim is a fine football coach and we appreciate the efforts he gave to this team over the past two years,” head coach Andy Reid said in a statement. “However, I determined that it was in the team’s best interest that we move in a different direction in terms of trying to maximize the production of that position group.”

Washburn is the latest casuality of the Eagles 3-9 season. Last week, the team cut defensive end Jason Babin, and earlier in the season they fired defesnvie coordinator Juan Castillo.

Replacing Washburn is Tommy Brahser. Brasher was the Eagles defensive line coach from 1999-2005.
