The deal is pending a physical.

The 29-year-old Jackson compiled a 10-11 record with a 1.22 WHIP and 168 strikeouts last season with the Washington Nationals.

Jackson joins a rotation that includes Matt Garza, Jeff Samardzija, Travis Wood, Scott Feldman and Scott Baker.

This will be Jackson’s second time in Chicago. In 2010 he was traded to the Chicago White Sox by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He played about a year with the Sox before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays who quickly turned around and traded him to the Saint Louis Cardinals.

In 10 seasons, Jackson has compiled a 70-71 record with a 4.40 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP.
