The recall affects Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks carrying model years 2010-2012, manufactured from late 2009 through late August 2012.

GM says the hoods of these vehicles may be missing a secondary hatch.

“If the primary hood latch is not engaged, the hood could open unexpectedly,” GM said. “During vehicle operation, this could obstruct the view of the driver and increase the risk of a crash.”

The automaker says dealers will repair affected models free of charge.
