Jeremy Bonderman Signs Minor League Deal With Mariners

Getty 11112 BaseballNews%201?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1356228365972Major League Baseball(SEATTLE, Wash.) — The Seattle Mariners signed former Detroit Tigers pitcher Jeremy Bonderman to a minor league contract and gave him an invitation to spring training.

The 30-year-old Bonderman is a Washington native. He last pitched in the major’s in 2010 going 8-10, with a 5.53 ERA.

Bonderman has had multiple arm problems. In 2008 his season was cut short due to a blood clot in his right shoulder. He returned in 2009 making one start before being shut down due to shoulder pain. In 2010 he suffered an elbow injury during off-season workouts and decided to retire.

After a couple seasons of retirement, Bonderman decided he wanted to return to the diamond and had Tommy John surgery in April.

In eight seasons with the Tigers, Bonderman went 67-77 with a 4.89 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP.
