Boeheim became only the third coach in history to win 900 games, joining Mike Krzyzewski and Bob Knight as the only others to do it. The coach of the third-ranked Orange downplayed the achievement after the game.

“To me, it’s just a number,” Boeheim said. “If I get 900, have I got to get more? That’s why maybe it’s just not that important to me because to me it’s just a number, and the only number that matters is how this team does.”

The 68-year old is in his 38th year at his alma mater. He has had many blowout wins, but this wasn’t one of them.

The Orange (10-0) built a 40-21 halftime lead, but a 16-0 Titan run in the second half pulled them to within four with under a minute to play. Michael Carter-Williams hit three free throws at the end to ice it for the Orange.
