Jobless Claims Drop to 350,000

Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — Jobless claims dropped by 12,000 the week before Christmas, according to the latest report from the Labor Department.

The agency said on Thursday that for the week ending Dec. 22, the number of people filing for benefits fell to 350,000.  The previous week, claims stood at 362,000.

The four-week average also went down, decreasing by 11,250 to 356,750.
