Jobless Claims Jump to 361,000

Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — Jobless claims snapped their downward streak last week, jumping by 17,000, according to the latest figures from the Labor Department.

On Thursday, the agency reported that for the week ending Dec. 15, the number of people filing for benefits rose to 361,000. The previous week, claims stood at 344,000.

The four-week average, meanwhile, continued to drop, falling by 13,750 to 367,750.
