(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) — Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie announced on Saturday that Sacramento has suspended center DeMarcus Cousins indefinitely for “unprofessional behavior and conduct detrimental to the team.”
Cousins was involved in a confrontation with Kings head coach Keith Smart during halftime of Friday night’s 97-85 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Smart left Cousins in the locker room for the entire second half.
The Kings drafted Cousins out of Kentucky with the fifth overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft. In three seasons in Sacramento, the 22-year-old has averaged 16 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
