(NEW YORK) — The Miami Marlins signed infielder Placido Polanco to a one-year, $2.75 million contract Thursday.
The 37-year-old two-time All-Star can also earn an additional $125,000 in incentives if he appears in 100 games, and another $125,000 if he appears in 120 games.
Polanco hit .257 in 303 at-bats last season for the Philadelphia Phillies. He missed 72 games with various knee, ankle and back injuries.
The three-time Gold Glove winner has a career .299 average over 15 seasons with the Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers.
