(DALLAS) — The Dallas Mavericks waived guard Derek Fisher at his request on Saturday.
The 38-year-old Fisher has been dealing with a strained tendon in his right knee, which he suffered during Tuesday’s victory against the Philadelphia 76ers.
“I have made decisions in the past, leaving money and opportunity on the table, and I will need to do that again,” Fisher said in a statement. “My family is my priority and that is where I choose to be.”
In nine games this season with Dallas, the five-time NBA champion averaged 8.6 points and 3.6 assists per game.
