NBA? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1354391690889National Basketball Association(NEW YORK) — If the New Orleans Hornets do wind up changing their name, Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan would be open to taking it back.

The Hornets had moved from Charlotte to New Orleans back in 2002, and new owner Tom Benson has publicly said that he wants to change the name of the team to something that fits the New Orleans culture. As recently as Wednesday, Benson’s wife, Gayle, said that not only might they change the name, but also change the uniform colors to from teal and purple to red, gold, and navy blue.

Jordan has expressed interest in bringing back the Hornets to Charlotte.

“It’s definitely an interest down the road, but right now it’s the New Orleans Hornets,” Jordan told the Charlotte Observer. “We would definitely entertain the opportunity. That’s as much as we can say right now. We’ve heard the community ask the question, and we would listen.”

There is no timetable for any name change.
