(NEW YORK) — It’s almost that time of year again for hopeful contestants from all 50 states to grace the stage vying for the coveted Miss America title. The diverse panel of judges for the 2013 Miss America Pageant was announced Wednesday morning on ABC’s Good Morning America.
Alongside ABC’s own Sam Champion on the judge’s panel will be fashion industry leader Bradley Bayou, professional dancer Cheryl Burke, former Entertainment Tonight host Mary Hart, ABC’s Shark Tank star Daymond John, 2011 World Vault Champion McKayla Maroney, and Miss America 2009, Katie Stem Irk.
The judges were chosen for their expertise in one of the areas the young women are expected to exemplify: intelligence, talent, leadership, commitment to community, and a “modern” sense of style and fashion.
The team of judges will work together to evaluate each contestant from the preliminary rounds until the final night of competition, which airs live on ABC from Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas Saturday, Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. ET
