iStockphoto/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Are you sick of hearing people say “YOLO?” Do you ever wish you could banish a word from the English language? Well, for the 38th year in a row, Michigan’s Lake Superior State University has compiled a “List of Words to be Banished from the Queen’s English for Misuse, Overuse and General Uselessness.”

This year’s list includes “superfood,” “guru” and “spoiler alert,” but the phrase that received the most nominations this year was “fiscal cliff.”

The university receives tens of thousands of nominations each year for words that people across the country just can’t stand.
