(PRETORIA, South Africa) — Former South African President Nelson Mandela is in the hospital in the capital city of Pretoria.
Officials tell us he is there for a routine health check up. They would not say how long he is expected to stay.
The frail, 94-year-old anti-apartheid hero now lives in retirement in his rural ancestral village.
People across the country were greatly concerned earlier this year when he was briefly hospitalized after complaining of abdominal pain.
South African officials insist Mandela is in good condition considering his age.
