(NEW YORK) — The day after a 20-year-old gunman shot and killed 20 children and six adults at a Newtown, Conn. elementary school, “Saturday Night Live” paid tribute to the victims with the opening of the show.
The New York City Children’s Chorus sang “Silent Night” in the cold open, deviating from the show’s usual comedy sketch. When the chorus of children finished the solemn performance, they shouted, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
The performance can be seen here.
