File photo. MANDEL NGAN/AFP/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner met again at the White House Monday to continue their discussion about avoiding the so-called fiscal cliff.

The meeting lasted approximately 45 minutes, the White House said. Upon returning to the Capitol, Boehner kept quiet as he made his way through a small scrum of reporters, ignoring all questions.

Monday’s meeting follows Boehner’s latest offer to the president, in which he agreed to raise taxes on the wealthy — but only on incomes over $1 million, matched by cuts in future spending on Medicare and Social Security.

President Obama has proposed raising taxes on households with earnings in excess of $250,000.
