(GREEN BAY, Wis.) — A familiar face is back in Green Bay. The Packers re-signed running back Ryan Grant on Wednesday to add security to their depleted running back depth chart.
James Starks was hurt in Sunday’s win over the Vikings, according to reports. Cedric Benson continues to recover from a foot injury and Johnny White was placed on injured reserve with a concussion on Wednesday as well.
Grant is fifth on the Packers all-time rushing list with 4,016 yards and 25 touchdowns from 2007-11. Grant played 15 games and rushed for 559 yards with two touchdowns in 2011, but Green Bay is hoping to get the Grant of 2009 when he rushed for 1,253 yards with 11 touchdowns.
Grant played one game on Sept. 26 for the Redskins before being released on Oct. 23. The Packers (8-4) will host the Detroit Lions (4-8) on Sunday night.
