Police Providing Security at Area Schools

  Published at

(IDAHO FALLS) – Police are increasing security at local schools today in response to alleged “doomsday” rumors of violent incidents.

The move to have more police present is to prevent any violence in response to the Sandy Hook shooting last week. In Pocatello, all three high schools will be placed on lockdown for the entire day, while middle and elementary schools can choose to go in lock down if administrators feel it’s appropriate.

Similar measures are being put in place in Idaho Falls schools.

Schools in Madison County and Idaho Falls are open today, although Jefferson County is off today for the holiday break.

Police warn that those making false threats will be prosecuted.
