The 34-year-old Ludwick hit .275 with 26 home runs and 80 RBIs playing left field for the Reds in 2012.

In 10 Major League season with Texas, Cleveland, St. Louis, San Diego, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati, Ludwick is a career .263 hitter with 143 home runs.

He made $2 million last season.  The deal means the Reds will maintain their starting outfield of Ludwick, centerfielder Drew Stubbs, and right fielder Jay Bruce heading into the 2013 season.

The deal is pending completion of a physical exam.
