Phillip Rivers threw for three touchdowns and the Chargers surprised the Steelers 34-24 on Sunday at Heinz Field.

The loss left the Steelers (7-6) mostly confused. “I have no clue (why we’re inconsistent),” Roethlisberger said. “If I knew I don’t think we’d do it anymore. I thought we’d play better.” The Steelers quarterback threw for three touchdowns but had 20 incompletions in his first game since injuring his ribs against the Chiefs four games ago.

The Chargers (5-8) rolled up a 27-3 third-quarter lead after Quentin Jammer returned a fumble for a touchdown.

“This isn’t necessarily the team we thought we’d have on the field in December, but this is the type of performance we thought we’d put together,” Rivers said.
