SMU Stomps Fresno State in Hawaii Bowl
Published at(HONOLULU) — SMU forced four Fresno State turnovers, as the Mustangs trampled the Bulldogs 43-10, in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.
“The guys were very motivated this week,” SMU head coach June Jones said of his defense. “I got two linebackers that I think can play in the NFL and I got a couple of D-lineman that I think can. So they wanted to show the world that they can play…and I think they did.”
One of those players is six-foot-eight senior defense end Margus Hunt. Hunt forced two fumbles and recorded a safety in the win. He was named the games MVP.
SMU (7-6) dominated the entire game, and went into halftime with a 22-0 lead.
Fresno State (9-4) let up seven sacks, the most its given up all season.
SMU has now won the Hawaii Bowl twice under head coach June Jones.
